Help Stop Yoville Scamming!!

List of Scams

Here is a list of scams that I have composed based on what I have seen during my experience as a yovillian.  If members don't see a scam that they have experienced, then feel free to post it in the forums or blog. Even if you doo see a scam that you fell for, it would still be nice to have a post in the blog or forum so members can better know how to avoid a scam the haven't seen or experienced before.

  1. TRADE SCAM- If the person you are trading with cancels in the middle of the trade, then watch out. If you really don't trust him/her, exit the room then try again. This should reset whatever they were trying to do. If they cancel in the middle of the second trade, then they're probably trying to scam you. Once may be an accident, but he/she is most likely trying to do something if it happens a second or third time. Also, if you're trading for an item, hover over the item with your mouse to make sure it's the right one. In the case of teleport doors, make sure there are two because they always come in pairs.
  2. VIP Passes/Items That Give VIP Access- This is a very common scam that people try to pull. First of all, THERE IS NO SUCH THING IN YOVILLE AS A VIP PASS. As far as I know, there isn't even a way to gain VIP status right now. I'm pretty sure the makers of yoville have released the information on how to obtain VIP status. If someone tries to sell an item and says it gives VIP access don't fall for it. Now, I know that there are VIP jackets, a VIP area in the club, and a VIP area in the furniture store. But, if you hover your mouse over the VIP area in the furniture store, then it will say coming soon. Also, when I hover my mouse over the VIP jackets in the stores, the "buy it" button doesn't pop up.  This tells me that they don't intend for you to buy the jackets yet. There are some people with jackets, but that's only because of a glitch.
  3. FAKE MONEY SCAM- This is something you should really be careful of, especially with big sales. This is a hack that some people use to get the really expensive items, such as tiger rugs and other types of collectibles. I would have put this under trade scam, but this problem is so special that i had to list it on its own. On the first attempt at trade, they will put in some amount of money, say 1000 coin, then exit out. Then they will make up some excuse as to why they had to exit and get you to try again. Or, they will get you to cancel buy putting in the wrong amount on purpose and pressing agree. The next trade they put in the amount you ask for, 20k for example, and go through with the trade. While they make off with the valuable item, your amount of coins is missing the "coins" you just received. If this person is really good, they can do it without exiting the trade, and that's why you need to be very careful when making major trades. If you go through with the second trade without exiting the room, there is a another way to tell if he is going to use fake money. Wait until he presses agree first and watch the money he puts in before and after he presses agree. If the amount of coins increases after he presses agree then you definitely know he's going to scam you with fake money. I'm not sure if this detection method is 100% effective, but it should be able to help you out alot.
  4. ASKING FOR COIN/GIFTS- I know there are people out there that like to be nice and give these things to those who seem to be less fortunate, but odds are they have the things that they are asking for. In my opinion, if the rest of us could make it without begging for others, then so can they.
  5. COSTUME SALES- You're going to have to use your best judgement on this one because some people are really legit. But be cautious when buying old costumes because you can only give them to another player through gifting. Some people that claim to be selling the costume will run with the coin. Also, if they ask you to give them the costume first before they pay, then they could run with the costume.
  6. GIFT FOR GIFT (G4G)- Once again, use best judgement. Some people doing this are legit. Others will accept your gift and run or kick you out if you're in their house.
  7. High Paying Jobs- Seriously?? Get that yadda out of here. What these people will do is promise you some nice amount of coins, let's say 17k for example, and tell you the person with the best gift will get this dream "job" that will get you rich in no time. This originally involved paying some amount of coins to get the job, but i guess that didn't work. So, they're going for the best gift. They will probably get more money from the various people that try to give them good gifts. Bottom line, if you have to pay or give the owner something for a job, then it's most likely a scam.
  8. Best Gift - There are people that promise to give some type of big "reward" (17k, a rare item, things like that) to the person who gives the best gift. Most of these, I would say about 95%, are scams. What the scammer will most likely do is: A. make you wait for a while to claim your prize, say he's going somewhere and he's gonna come back, then disappear. B. keep the event going until it ends then just disappear. C. say that your gift didn't win and kick you out. or D. have someone on the inside working with him/her and say that that person is winning. As far as the ones that give out money, the ones that will most likely be legit are the ones that pay you under 500 coins. As for the ones that "reward" you with a gift, i haven't seen one that's truly been legit.
